tecumseh engines dont last for what i put them through, B&S r the toughest, strongest, ball busters of the small engines
@LynolsOffice go to ur city dump and ask for any Hor. shaft engines, i bought a B&S 40hp 4cylinder for about 100 bucks at my towns dump and i have it running on a dunebuggy

@doggybag77 yes its possible but impossible at the same time, if u tilted the engine you would blow it up in seconds, i suggest buying a Vert. shaft gearbox, i have about 50 at my shop and they r made by wheel horse. its a small transmission, vert. driven but side shaft geared. it has R-N-1-2-3-4-5-6 gears and wont go very fast, but ive been tweaking with them and i put one on a home made Vert. Shafted go cart, if u need a pic of one text me @ 405-269-3904 and ill send u a pic, maybe sell one…
@CowsXonXcrack depends on the brand of lawn tractor, most lawn tractor engines are vert. shafted, but wheel horse back in the mid 70′s-mid 90′s had a line of hor. shafted lawn tractors.

if the first 2 digits are 29= 12.5 or 14hp
if they are 30=16hp
if they are 35=18hp
and if they are 38=20,22,24hp

thats y i just take off the fuel line and take like an oiler can or w/e and squirt gas in it or just pout some down the carb

That vaguard V twin comes in three versionsi am pretty sure. Theres a 16 HP, 18, and a 24. I have one at my school and it is a 24 HP but we cant start it for some reason not sure what’s wrong

That would be nice if it’s a 16. The motor seems fine, but yeah I don’t like using starter fluid, I know it’s not good for it. This starter fluid supposedly has a lubricant in it, but who knows how well that works.
